expected Linux to take advantage of the Nokia-Microsoft deal

wireless unit of Linux, LiMo , expects to benefit from the alliance between Microsoft and Nokia, as it could lead manufacturers to seek smaller-sized alternative platforms, said its chief executive said Monday.

Linux operating system has begun to gain momentum in the mobile with the rise of system Google Android, is now the most widely used software in smartphones.

"With Microsoft and Nokia together and Android settled, other device vendors should consider other areas to prevent the irreversible collapse of the margins that computer makers were" said Morgan Gillis, LiMo's director, told Reuters.
